About the Festival

The first Meadows Festival was in 1974 and since then the Festival has been an annual feature of the calender (excepting a break 2006-7). The Festival Committee work hard throughout the year to put on the event, usually held on the first weekend in June, including...

  • Two live music stages with something to suit every musical taste!
  • a popular kids tent with activities to keep younger visitors entertained - including face painting, story telling and much more
  • stalls selling everything from antiques, clothing, fair trade products etc
  • information stalls of various types - local associations, campaigns, charities etc
  • food stalls to suit every taste and appetite
  • the art tent with a selection of artwork from students at the ECA
  • Taylors funfair are situated to the west of the Festival site
  • Primary school football competition in which various local primary schools compete

Parking is very limited around the Meadows and illegally parked vehicles have been ticketed or towed away before! We strongly encourage you to use public transport - LRT buses 41 and 24 go directly to Melville Drive or go to Tollcross (10,11,15,16) or Bristo Place (2,23,27,35,42) and take the short walk. Alternativley - cycle or walk to the Festival!

The Meadows Festival Association (Charity SCO17116) runs the Festival. The current commitee took over the running of the event from 2008 onwards, taking over from the previous organisers.

It costs approximately £20,000 to put on each years Festival and we are always open for donations, sponsorship etc.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with the set-up and over the weekend - see here for more information.

Some of the items listed alter due to unforeseen circumstances and the Meadows Festival Association does not guarantee attendance of any stallholder or other third parties. Children and vulnerable adults are the responsibility of a parent or carer at all times.
